COVID-19 Conditions for entering Romania

As part of the measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, individual member states of the European Union have introduced travel restrictions, including at certain borders between these states. Depending on the developments of the epidemiological situation both within and outside the EU, travel restrictions may be eased or reintroduced. All travelers are responsible for verifying the travel restrictions in place before departure.

GREEN AREA

The travelers that come from countries from the green areas have no restrictions like testing or vaccine.

YELLOW AREA

Travelers who enter Romania from countries on the yellow areas must self-quarantine for 14 days only if not vaccinated or cannot present proof of a negative Covid-test performed 72 hours or less before departure to Romania.

The duration of self-quarantine can be reduced from 14 to 10 days if, on day ten of self-quarantine, a negative Covid test is confirmed.

The categories of people exempted from quarantine are:

  • performed both doses of vaccine against COVID-19 and at least 10 days passed from its date to the date of entry into Romania;
  • people who present proof of a negative Covid-test performed 72 hours or less before departure to Romania
  • persons who have been confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in the last 90 days, proven by medical documents (positive RT-PCR test at the time of diagnosis, hospital discharge or test proving the presence of IgG antibodies performed up to 14 days before contact) or by verification of the Corona-forms database and for which at least 14 days have elapsed from the date of confirmation to the date of contact.

Yellow Area Countries: Israel, Colombia, Namibia, Saint Maarten, Costa Rica, United States, Turkey, Russian Federation, Montenegro, Kyrgyzstan, Indonesia, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, United Arab Emirates, Denmark, Trinidad and Tobago, Morocco, Suriname, Belgium, Honduras, Luxembourg, Zimbabwe, Oman.

RED AREA

Travelers who enter Romania from countries on the red areas must self-quarantine for 14 days if not vaccinated, even if proof of a negative Covid-test is presented.

The duration of self-quarantine can be reduced to ten days if, on day ten of self-quarantine, a negative Covid test is confirmed.

The categories of people exempted from quarantine are:

  • performed both doses of vaccine against COVID-19 and at least 10 days passed from its date to the date of entry into Romania;
  • persons who have been confirmed positive for SARS-CoV-2 virus infection in the last 90 days, proven by medical documents (positive RT-PCR test at the time of diagnosis, hospital discharge or test proving the presence of IgG antibodies performed up to 14 days before contact) or by verification of the Corona-forms database and for which at least 14 days have elapsed from the date of confirmation to the date of contact.

Red Area Countries: Isle of Man, Jersey, British Virgin Islands, Fiji, Cyprus, Gibraltar, Cuba, Georgia, Botswana, Seychelles, Spain, United Kingdom, Malaysia, Mongolia, Curaçao, Aruba, Monaco, Kazakhstan, Andorra, French Polynesia, Libya, Virgin Islands United States, Eswatini, Iran, France, Bahamas, Tunisia, Netherlands, Argentina, Iceland, Portugal, Iraq, Malta, Greece, Ireland, Panama, Maldives, Thailand, Kuwait, South Africa, Brazil, Nepal, India.
